Cyclists Illegally Use L.A. Freeway, Beat Traffic

In a city ruled by built for cars, why is it that you can get places faster on bikes? About 30 bicyclists and 3 rollerbladers hit an LA freeway to demonstrate the use of a bicycle. It worked — they…
“Let’s talk greatest Los Angeles bands for a second. Depending how you’re wired, there are roughly a dozen candidates for the throne. If you tend to spend a small but significant minority of your time swallowing spoonfuls of liquid acid on Venice rooftops, the Doors, the Beach Boys, the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield/CSNY and maybe even Sublime make your shortlist. If you’ve rocked a green Mohawk and/or owned a Henry Rollins spoken-word record, you’d probably lean toward Black Flag, X, the Minutemen or the Germs. If your personal hairspray use has emitted enough CO2 to wreak serious havoc on the ozone layer, there’s Van Halen or Guns N’ Roses; if you’re inclined toward Latin music, Los Lobos looms, and if you’re into being wrong, there’s always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

Mysteries: Who's Stalking You On Facebook?

keepinganotebook:

I’ve been obsessed by this all day. Mine:
  1. My roommate from when I lived Jordan who I openly stalk on Facebook because she is bad at keeping in touch.
  2. This guy I met in India with whom I was soul-crushingly in love, but he was only marginally interested in me. I used to search him all the time, but now I’m over that now (well, not totally).
  3. A peripheral friend whom I want to make out with, but I don’t think I search that much.
  4. A friend from Jordan. Kinda random.
  5. A woman I was friends with in India. I also openly Facebook stalk her because she has a cool life in England.

So do all these people have crushes on me or what?

(via miss-r an lenachen)

THIS IS BULLSHIT. It’s not working for me. Just like muxtape, I’m convinced the entire world is involved in a conspiracy against me. Is it Firefox? Why can I not do this? Ughhhhhhhh.

South Beach Works, Y'All

I have eaten nary a carb for…nine days now.

And almost six (seven?) pounds later, my “sexy/expensive/so tight the zipper was groaning” jeans are…loose. Around the thigh. They are LOOSE. What.

I’m also fucking tired as shit by 9pm every night, feeling guilty for every bit of salad dressing I consume, suffering terrible withdrawal from the lack of alcohol, and every time I see a picture of a bagel I go into a wicked rage, but HEY I’m getting skinny again. And I’m going shopping this weekend with my “economic stimulus” to buy Congratulations on Being Skinny clothes.

Good fuckin deal.

The Los Angeles Film School Announces Two New Degrees

The Los Angeles Film School is now accepting applications for limited seating for two new Associate of Science Degree Programs in Game Development and Computer Animation, with classes set to start in September 2008.

The Associate of Science in Game Development program takes students through the process of creating a video game from the initial stages of game structure and preproduction, to advanced coding, artificial intelligence, and game engine creation. The program is modeled after real game industry procedures, and the final project is a complete playable video game.

Students in the Associate of Science in Computer Animation program learn the animation pipeline used throughout the industry to create art for games, special effects for television and movies, and animated feature films. The program starts by teaching students the principles of traditional animation and character design, before progressing to more advanced computer animation techniques. Students use advanced modeling software to create virtual models, characters, and visual effects for a variety of multimedia applications, and collect their best work into an industry-ready portfolio at the conclusion of the program.
