Dad came out this weekend to help me put my room together (it’s lookin’ good! real good! so much Scandinavian whimsy!), but before we got down to picture-hanging business, we checked out Chego, Roy Choi’s new place up near Overland and Palms.
We tried the kimchi sampler (which isn’t really kimchi, and more just straight-up pickles — also, I wouldn’t recommend being in the same room with ANYBODY for at least 24 hours after eating the pickled garlic. TRUST ME ON THIS), then the Ooey Gooey Fries (AMAZING), and finally the Prime Rib Rice Plate - kind of a fusion take on bibimbap, which I thought was a little under-seasoned, but then I’m the girl who puts sriracha on EVERYTHING.
As we were about to leave, I noticed a big hipstery Korean dude enter the place and I was like…”is that?” and then saw him go into the kitchen and start laying down the law and I was like “Yup! That sure is!” Obviously I didn’t say anything, but now I think I should have been like “Yo Roy, put some SALT on that Prime Rib!”
